With the latest improvements in Android-phone, many users absolutely love the dark and Light mode options that are imbibed in the Android 10+. The newest technology allows smartphones to schedule the switch from dark mode and night mode easily.

For good order sake, it is best to define what a dark mode refers to. A dark mode refers to the display setting in which a light color text is shown up against a dark or black screen. The dark mode is also spoken as black / night mode or dark theme.

Sometimes when the phone is switched to dark mode on Android, all the elements get switched except the wallpaper. The apps and the notifications are all blacked out, but the home screen will be bright as the night mode does not affect the wallpaper. Many may think that this is a unique problem.

However, even though the problem may seem unique, there is a solution and an easy one as well. For example, a user needs to have a free app called the ‘Dark Light Mode Scheduler”. As the name suggests, this app allows the user to choose wallpapers for dark and light modes, respectively. So that whenever the dark/light mode on Android switches, the wallpaper will also switch automatically.

Why important?

The option to darken the wallpaper is essential. A system-wide dark interface will not harm the eyes at night. However, if the home screen and wallpaper are very bright, it will not be suitable for the eyes. So, in short, the idea behind the dark mode was to reduce the light emitted from the screen while the minimum color contrast ratios required for readability are maintained. That is why the option to make the home screen wallpaper dark is important. Samsung well understands the seriousness of this issue, for example. The latest Samsung smartphones come with the dark mode, reducing the wallpaper brightness. So, by just going to the Settings app, then to the Display section, select the dark mode, and then toggle the key ‘Apply to wallpaper. The timings can also be scheduled from the same menu.

  • It is excellent for those using their Android smartphones in bed. There will be less blue light emission from the phone.
  • The low light settings will not disturb others or keep your partner awake.
  • Less energy is used, thereby extending the battery life.
  • Reduces the eye strain and dry eyes in low-light conditions.
  • Especially ideal for users who have light sensitivity or have some other visual impairment.

While many may swear by the advantages of Dark mode settings, many are still questioning the benefits. For instance, some are of the opinion that the light-against-dark is not always good for the eyes. The text can appear washed out, thereby causing eye strain and fatigue. Also, reading long articles in dark mode will be difficult. So the debate will continue till the benefits are substantiated by proven results.

Until then, since the option is made available to change the wallpaper automatically in dark/light mode on Andriod, why not go ahead and use it by following the below mentioned simple steps:

Search for the app from the Google Play store titled ‘Dark Light Mode Scheduler’. Select the app and download it to your Android phone from the search result.

Now open the app, and under the Configuration setting, enable the toggle button ‘Automatically change wallpaper.

Then go to the Schedule settings to select the timings. Go to the Custom time option and set the Light and dark wallpaper time required.

Once the time is set, now select the desired wallpapers for the Home and Lock screen. While choosing the wallpapers, tap on the Light and dark modes images and decide accordingly.

So in just these above four simple steps, you can automatically change the wallpapers for dark and light modes on Android smartphones. Please note that the app mentioned above changes the home screen and lock screen wallpapers based on the custom trigger and your set night schedule.

This app allows for the automatic switch from dark to light modes to match the system setting or the schedule that you created. So now, you can conveniently use bright wallpapers in the day and switch to less bright wallpaper at night.
